One of the biggest events in the mobile industry kicks off in just a few weeks, and, as usual, Syniverse is planning a big presence at Mobile World Congress.
Syniverse colleagues from around the globe will travel to Barcelona to join over 100,000 expected attendees at the show, which this year will explore the theme of “The Next Element” and how mobile has become a force that is elemental to our everyday lives.
One of Syniverse’s highlights will be a state-of-the-art pavilion we’re creating at Fira Gran Via, in Hall 2, Space 2G21, where we’ll be hosting a number of customer meetings. If you’re attending Mobile World Congress and would like to stop by, please let us know so we can schedule a meeting time.
You can also catch us in person at three special sessions that I’ll be participating in. The first is “Creating an All-Star Mobile Strategy to Engage Fans,” and it will be on Feb. 28, from 4 to 4:20 p.m., at Fira Gran Via in Hall 8, Theater C. Mobile has turned the world of sports from a game-day event to a 24/7 opportunity for fans to engage with players, teams and each other in real time. At this session, I’ll join Christine Pantoya, Senior Vice President of Mobile Strategy for the NBA, to discuss how the NBA places consumers and their connected devices at the center of the mobile engagement strategies that are enabling experiences like in-arena navigation, food ordering, quizzes and player interactions.
In addition, on March 1, I’ll be at the Keynote 8 session, “The Fourth Industrial Revolution,” from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at Hall 4, Auditorium 1. In this session, I’ll be moderating a panel to explore the ramifications of a new industrial revolution taking place and the driving role that mobile will play in this, especially in relation to realizing the potential of new technologies like artificial intelligence and the internet of things.
Finally, I’ll also be taking part in a new Mobile World Congress program called Women4Tech, focusing on how to reduce the gender gap in the mobile industry. As part of this, I’ll be moderating the panel session “Women Encouraging Technology: Mentorship, Coaching, Education & Youth,” on March 2, from 11:25 a.m. to 12:35 p.m., at Auditorium A, Hall 4, access CC3, Hall 3.
In addition to these sessions, one of the big themes that Syniverse will be addressing at Mobile World Congress this year is Voice over LTE, or VoLTE. In many ways, it’s one of the final frontiers for LTE, because while most voice calls use 3G networks today, in the next few years the mobile industry will be making a massive transition to VoLTE.
We’ve been right in the middle of helping operators tackle the special challenges of VoLTE integration, and we’ve refined a number of our own best practices and unique perspectives on this rapidly rising voice technology standard. We’re working on assembling these insights now and will share more details on them shortly.
Please stay tuned right here to Synergy for more updates on our Mobile World Congress plans over the next couple of weeks.
